Victoria and Olga are Moscow artists whose work is inspired by the psychological aspect of artistic practice. The authors explore the concept of the “inner child” in their work and create their objects from children's toys hidden under layers of plaster and paint. Paintings done in white create a sense of security in the space.

SERIES OF WORK: EXCAVATIONS OF THE INNER CHILD:

The concept of “inner child” has a dozen definitions. But most often, psychologists call this the part of the adult psyche that stores childhood memories, as well as resources: creativity, lightness, spontaneity and fearlessness. It was this concept that the artists turned to in their collection of works “Excavation of the Inner Child.” They hid toys under layers of paint and plaster. Touching “bears” and “geese” are reminiscent of the French concept DOUDOU. Le doudou is a favorite toy, a personal item that gives a child a sense of security.

In the adult world, people lose contact with their childhood feelings. The artistic practice SISTERS IN ART offers to restore lost connections. The works are done in white to avoid realism and provoke the viewer into a subtle sensual conversation. The artists work at the intersection of sculpture and painting to explore the concept of the inner child and invite the viewer to self-discovery.
