Примерка Картин

The artist lives and works in Moscow. In 2015 she graduated from Moscow State University with a degree in Foreign Regional Studies. This became the author's first entry point into the study of other cultures. Before starting her journey in painting, she worked as a stylist in makeover shows, on advertising projects and fashion shoots. Personal circumstances in 2021 led the author to an old dream: to start painting professionally. After private painting lessons, in the spring of 2022 Anya rented a small studio and plunged into work on her first paintings.

The author's work is based on his interest in Eastern mythology, philosophical teachings, cultural phenomena and the way of life of Eastern people. The author addresses these topics as his own foreign cultural mirror, in which he snatches out fragments and reassembles them through his own prism. This work reveals not only knowledge about other worlds, but also allows you to find your differences and dissimilarity, to create your own unique reality.

Eastern aesthetics runs like a thin thread through all the author’s works. This can be seen in compositional solutions, perspective planes, and uniform color spots. The visual language found by the author is reproduced based on personal feelings and vision of orientality. The main subjects in which the author works: geometric abstraction, nature and still life. All of them are motionless and silent. Looking at them, the viewer can switch from bustle to contemplation, and hide from the impermanence of the surrounding world.

The '+_- twelve' series brings together the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac. Their images are associated with ideas about the relationship between man and nature and time, as well as the principle of ‘yin-yang’ harmony.

Each of the creatures contains opposing forces and characteristics. Originally, yin and yang meant the shady and sunny slopes of the mountain. They both belong to the same mountain and are parts of a single whole, but do not form an identical pair. In the context of “yin-yang”, both luck and misfortune are just sides of one phenomenon, and dividing everything into absolute “good” and “evil” is incorrect.

This project is a reminder of balance in the world, in every person and every event. As we welcome the new year and begin the next stage of life, we remind ourselves that at the heart of everything is interaction, not confrontation; and the fusion of chaos and order is part of the nature of all things and of each of us.
